Aerolíneas Argentinas is working to bring flight operations back to normal

01/07/2018

Buenos Aires, July 1, 2018.-Aerolíneas Argentinas announces that it is taking all steps necessary to bring flight operations back to normal after the cancellations that took place due to the fog that disrupted yesterday’s operation of Aeroparque Jorge Newbery and Ezeiza airports.

As of 10 AM today, after the statutory rest for the crew, flights started departing from different airports of the country to Aeroparque and Ezeiza.

More than 30 airplanes of the company had to unexpectedly stay overnight at different airports throughout the country because Aeroparque was closed yesterday due to the fog. Those are the airplanes that arrived during this morning at Buenos Aires. Once the routine technical inspections have been completed, we will be able to start restoring flight operations. Regarding international flights, Aerolíneas operated as usual –with some delays– because Ezeiza airport had many airplanes on hold but continued operating.

Moreover, the company scheduled one special flight to the city of Ushuaia, another one to Neuquén and two special flights to Puerto Iguazú, where most of the delayed passengers were.

Under this scenario, and as long as the current weather conditions prevail, the company understands that operations will return to normal at 4 PM.

Affected passengers –around 30,000– were individually contacted through the personal information disclosed to the company, and were relocated in flights scheduled the closest to the original departure time as possible, most of them for today.

Aerolíneas Argentinas continues to do everything within its reach to minimize the inconveniences caused by the weather condition.
