Punctuality: the basis of an excellent February for Aerolíneas Argentinas

05/03/2018

During February, punctuality reached an average of 90% and cancellations dropped by 47% compared to the same month of the previous year. Aerolíneas Argentinas achieved a new single-day record for passengers carried.

Buenos Aires, March 5, 2018.- Aerolíneas Argentinas announced today the sound operating results for the month of February. It carried 1,099,295 passengers, which represents a 5% rise if compared to the same month in 2017. The most significant news was the excellent 90% punctuality record for the 9,428 segments flown during the month, including domestic, regional and international flights. During the whole month, the flag carrier logged only 27 cancellations, almost half of those of last year, which translates into a completion factor of 99.7%.

The average load rate was 83% for the whole network, leveraged by the record traffic reached during the Carnival holidays. During that weekend, Aerolíneas Group carried 231,500 passengers, representing a 6% y-o-y growth. It should also be highlighted that on February 9 a new record for passengers carried in a single day was reached, hitting 44,161.

Commercially speaking, 570,000 tickets were sold during the month, some 5% rise when compared to last year. 37% was sold through direct sales channels, in line with what happened in 2017.  Accumulated earnings for the first two months of the year also exceed those obtained last year by 5%. These achievements are the result of the company’s robust commercial policy and the gradual increase in the number of seats offered, after more modern and wider‑capacity aircraft were incorporated to the fleet, such as the Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, with a seat capacity of 170 passengers.

Mario Dell´Acqua, President of Aerolíneas Group, stated: “Punctuality and compliance are key elements passengers take into account when choosing an airline to fly. In a highly competitive scenario, this month’s indicators clearly show the soundness of our operations. This may only be achieved through the teamwork of all the areas of the company.”

Other prominent news of the month were the resumption of operations of the route connecting Bahía Blanca and Neuquén, the announcement of 3 new weekly frequencies to Madrid as from June, the resumption of operations in the “Sauce Viejo” airport in Santa Fe, the first Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft regional flight, and the recognition awarded by the Curitiba Airport on account of the excellent quality of our services and assistance.
