28/08/2017

The airlines announced a codeshare agreement, which began on August 14, 2017.

Buenos Aires, August 28, 2017. Aerolíneas Argentinas and ETIHAD today announced the signing of a codeshare agreement that will allow both companies to expand connectivity options to different destinations both in our country and in the Middle East.

The agreement implies that from now on, the current daily frequencies of Aerolíneas to Madrid and Rome will also be marketed by ETIHAD. Also, Aerolíneas will be able to add to its international offer codeshare flights to Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates, from both European cities. The agreement went into effect for sales on or after July 31, for flights from the 14th of this month.

This agreement allows ETIHAD to offer its passengers the possibility of connecting with the routes operated by Aerolíneas Argentinas and Austral from Ezeiza: Córdoba, Mendoza, Rosario, Iguazú, Salta, Mar del Plata, Bariloche, Trelew and Ushuaia.

Diego García, Aerolíneas Argentinas’ Commercial area manager said: "This is a very good opportunity to consolidate and increase our offer to one of the most important hubs in the Middle East. It also allows us to improve our load factors, optimize the use of the fleet and strengthen the image of Aerolíneas in the Asian market. We hope that this agreement will also be the gateway for many tourists to visit some of the most attractive destinations in our country".

Mohammad Al Bulooki, executive vice president of Etihad Airways, said: "This codeshare demonstrates the importance of Argentina as a vital travel market for Etihad Airways in Latin America, given the growing tourism, cultural and business opportunities that exist between the United Arab Emirates and Argentina. We wish to give Aerolíneas Argentinas travelers the opportunity to enjoy the service and hospitality for which Etihad Airways is renowned throughout the world. This codeshare will make the experience much easier".

Passengers from both airlines will benefit from more flexible connections to these codeshare destinations, with itinerary issued on the same ticket, with boarding pass and transport of their baggage to the final destination from the airport of origin. Soon, passengers will be able to accrue miles in frequent flyer programs of both airlines.
