Aerolíneas Argentinas predicts a very good long weekend for domestic tourism, in which it plans to carry more than 184,000 passengers, 13% more than in 2016

In the Cordoba hub, a load factor of 78% and the transportation of nearly 9,000 passengers, 35% more than last year is expected. For making the forecast, the company takes into account the bookings made for flights between Friday 18 and Tuesday 22 August.

Buenos Aires, August 17, 2017.- Aerolineas Argentinas forecasts an active passenger traffic for this long weekend, in which it plans to carry more than 184,000 passengers across its entire network, which represents an increase of about 13% compared to the same long weekend last year. It commemorates the day when General José de San Martín entered immortality -, which fell between Friday August 12 and Tuesday August 16.

The company predicts that it will have its largest increase in passengers in domestic destinations, at around 18%, and a seat occupancy rate of 5 percentage points over last year.

According to the bookings made so far, it is expected that the destinations with the highest traffic from and to Buenos Aires will be San Carlos de Bariloche, Iguazú, Córdoba, Santiago (Chile), Salta, Mendoza, Neuquén, Ushuaia, Comodoro Rivadavia and Sao Paulo (Brazil).

It should be noted that Ushuaia, Iguazú and Salta are the routes that grew the most in number of passengers compared to the previous year, with increases of 37%, 28% and 24%, respectively.

According to the data, an average traffic of 37 thousand passengers a day is estimated for the weekend, where Monday 21 would be the most active, with more than 41 thousand passengers, which represents an increase of about 20% over Monday, August 15, 2016.

"These data confirm the growing trend that Aerolíneas Argentinas has shown for months, with higher seat occupancy and passengers carried. In addition, they reveal the great success that the support of the city of Cordoba had, as a hub to promote connectivity and facilitate the transit of passengers throughout the country without having to always pass through Buenos Aires”, said Diego Garcia, Aerolíneas Group sales manager.

In that sense, the Cordoba hub also expects an impact on flights, with a seat occupancy of around 78% and transportation of around 9,000 passengers, 35% more than last year. Mendoza, Salta and Bariloche are expected to be the busiest destinations to and from this city.

It is estimated that around 1780 passengers will be carried daily during this long weekend, with Sunday 20 being the busiest day, with about 1900 passengers, representing a 33% more than last year.
