  • Carriage of pets in cabin

    You can travel with your dog or your cat in the cabin on domestic or regional flights, only to Argentina’s neighboring countries (Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay). The following are the general conditions of carriage:

    1. Puppies or kittens must be at least 8 weeks old.

    2. Each passenger may carry only one dog or cat.

    3. Unaccompanied minors may not carry animals under this scheme.

    4. “Brachycephalic” dog and cat breeds will be accepted for in cabin carriage.

    5. You must have the required documentation according to your destination, see the Documentation section.

    6. You can make your booking through our Contact Center (0810.222.86527) at least 72 hours before the departure of your flight. You may also do so at the Airports (with no previous booking), but in this case the service will be subject to availability on the flight.

    7. The weight allowance for carriage is 7 (seven) kilos per animal, including the carrier.

    8. Pets must be carried in a carrier (kennel) provided by the passenger.

    9. This service is subject to cabin availability.

     

    Pet carrier acceptance conditions:

    1. It must be a waterproof, durable, ventilated and safe carrier.

    2. It must be big enough for the pet to be able to stand up, sit straight, turn around and lie down comfortably.

    3. It must be placed under the seat in front of the passenger.

    4. Maximum dimensions for carriers in both cabins:

    • - Soft-sided kennels: 48 cm long, 30 cm wide and 20 cm tall.
    • - Hard-sided kennels: 48 cm long, 30 cm wide and 17 cm tall.

    If the carrier does not meet all acceptance conditions, your pet will be denied boarding in the cabin and the charge for the service will not be refundable. Should this situation arise and as long as you meet the requirements for pet carriage in the hold, you may choose to purchase this service, but you will not be entitled to a refund of the difference between the prices of the two services.

    Considerations

    (1) The price includes a 21% VAT, except for USH/RGA, where the price is final and does not include VAT. You may request a Tax Credit Certificate.

    *Inside South America includes the following countries: Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay.
    *Charges are refundable (except when acceptance conditions are not met).
    *Exchanges are permitted if there is a change in route.
     

  • Travel with your Assistance Dog

    Assistance dogs may travel in the cabin of the airplane in all Aerolíneas Argentinas/Austral routes and free of charge with passengers that rely on them due to a visual or hearing impairment. They must travel at their owner’s feet without blocking aisles or emergency exits, and they may not occupy a seat.

    The animal must:

    • Have the required documentation according to the destination, see the Documentation section.

    • Wear a harness and a leash attached to the seat belt.

     

  • Carriage of pets in hold

    We carry pets (dogs and cats) as checked baggage.

    1. You can make your booking through our Contact Center (0810.222.86527) up to 48 hours before the departure of your flight.

    2. You must have the required documentation according to your destination, see the Documentation section.

    3. Carriage of the animal is subject to suitable temperature conditions and availability in the airplane’s hold. Therefore, the booking does not guarantee that the pet will be carried.

    4. If you are on a connecting flight, your pet will not be shipped to your final destination but will have to be shipped per segment. You should bear in mind that the time window between flights must allow you to pick up your pet at the connecting point and then ship it again. We recommend that you consider a minimum time window between connecting flights of one hour and thirty minutes (1 h 30 min) for Domestic-Domestic and Domestic-International flights at Aeroparque Airport.

    5. You must bring a pet carrier

    6. If you have connecting flights with other companies, you will have to contact them to learn their requirements for the carriage of pets.

     

    Pet carrier acceptance conditions:

    1. It must be waterproof and have ventilation on the sides.

    2. It must be made of a rigid material, and have a metal door and locking pins that ensure that the door will not open at any time during the flight, otherwise a metallic safety seal will be added. 

    3. It must be big enough for the pet to be able to stand up, sit straight, turn around and lie down comfortably. 

    4. The head of the cat or dog (including its ears) must not touch the roof of the kennel while the animal is sitting down or standing inside it. 

    5. Only 1 (one) animal may be carried per pet carrier/kennel. 

    Important: Brachycephalic dogs and cats (usually known as snub nosed) are NOT accepted for carriage as checked baggage, they may only be carried as Cargo.

    Charges:

    Carriage of pets in the hold as checked baggage is not included in the baggage allowance; therefore, you will have to pay the relevant excess charge according to the route.

    In hold carriage restrictions:

    If your flight is longer than 2 (two) hours and you are traveling with an animal in the hold, call our Contact Center (0810.222.86527) because Embraer Aircraft operated by Austral have certain restrictions in such conditions due to technical reasons. 

  • Carriage of pets as Cargo/Jet Paq

    In the case of carriage of unaccompanied pets, they must meet the requirements for carriage of animals in the hold, but the service must be booked in the CARGO section.

    In this category, we accept brachycephalic dogs and cats (usually known as snub nosed). These include, but are not limited to, the following breeds:

    Valid anti-rabies vaccine certificate (for dogs and cats older than 3 months).

    Good health/suitability for airplane travel certificate: issued no earlier than 10 (ten) days before the departure of your flight.
