Aerolíneas Argentinas boosts connectivity from Ezeiza airport

01/04/2019

March 30, 2019 – Aerolíneas Argentinas will relocate 38 daily frequencies from Aeroparque to Ezeiza airport. This is part of the process of de-regionalization of the city airport, meaning that only domestic flights and flights to Uruguay will depart from the City of Buenos Aires. The company will thus strengthen its international operations, boosting connections between cities throughout the country and neighboring countries with overseas destinations.

There are 9 destinations that are now operated from Aeroparque and will be relocated to Ezeiza. Thanks to these operations, Aerolíneas will add an average of 56 daily flights departing from the international airport.

Pursuant to resolution 476-E / 2017, published in the Official Gazette, as of April 1 all international flights —except for services to/from Uruguay— must be relocated to Ezeiza in order to decongest Aeroparque Jorge Newbery and provide customers with a better service at both airports.

Aerolíneas will boost Ezeiza Hub due to this change. The company will thus improve the interconnection between flights arriving from other cities throughout Argentina and neighboring countries and those departing to the United States and Europe.

Aerolíneas will have flights to Ezeiza from: Córdoba, Mendoza, Salta, Mar del Plata, Bariloche, El Calafate, Iguazú, Trelew, Rosario, Tucumán and Ushuaia, and from Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Asunción, Curitiba, Florianopolis, Porto Alegre, Porto Seguro, Rio, Sao Paulo and Santiago. These flights are in addition to those already operated from Ministro Pistarini airport: Bogotá, Cancun, Lima, Madrid, Miami, New York, Punta Cana, Rome and San Salvador de Bahía.

Similarly, Aerolíneas will add a daily flight from Montevideo to Ezeiza with the aim of attracting passengers from across the La Plata River for international destinations.

The company has rescheduled these flights so that, in most cases, waiting time between the arrival of a domestic or regional flight and the departure of an international flight, or vice versa, will be 2.5 hours or less.

Aerolíneas will thus boost sales for tickets from other cities throughout Argentina to international destinations. Moreover, it is working towards findingnew customers for flights to the United States and Europe in neighboring countries.

In this way, the new “Ezeiza Hub” will allow for the implementation of a new business model that includes the sale of tickets to the final destination, a better schedule and, therefore, an improved service for passengers. Additionally, it will allow the company to plan and expand its operation in Aeroparque, as it will reduce air traffic. The expansion works that are being performed in Ezeiza encourage this kind of operation.
