Aerolíneas Argentinas brings all argentine residents closer to the whales season

The company started the whale watching high-season with flights scheduled from Córdoba, Ushuaia and El Calafate. As from October, Trelew will have 12 additional frequencies, rising from 41 to 53. Seats offered will grow by 33% i.e., 15,000 new seats will be available.

September 18, 2018.- Today at Trelew’s international airport “Almirante Marcos Andrés Zar”, Aerolíneas Argentinas presented the frequencies for the whale watching high-season. This week, flights started arriving from Córdoba, Ushuaia and El Calafate, together with the supplementary flights from the City of Buenos Aires. With these new frequencies and 15,000 additional available seats, Aerolíneas connects Trelew with the country as a whole. In line with the diverse range of tourist attractions in Chubut, the season for penguin watching started on September 15 in Punta Tombo, a wildlife reserve located 110 kilometers from the capital city of said province.

The route Córdoba-Trelew is part of the high-season special operation involving 12 new flights that will connect Chubut’s capital city with different cities throughout the country as from October. Along with the rise in the offer of flights, seat availability will go up by 33%, from 44,000 to 59,000.

During September, the flight connecting Córdoba with Trelew will have one weekly frequency; and as from October, it will have 3. In addition, on Tuesday, September 18, the airline started operating a flight between El Calafate and Trelew with one weekly frequency during September and 3 frequencies beginning in October.

In this context, on September 17, Aerolíneas Argentinas started operating a route between Ushuaia and Trelew with 3 weekly frequencies during September, which will go up to 7 in October.

The network of Córdoba’s Hub will now include a route between Córdoba and Trelew, which will allow people from Chubut to connect with other domestic destinations including Salta, Tucumán, Mendoza, Neuquén, Resistencia, Iguazú, Posadas and Jujuy, without the need to make a connection in Buenos Aires.

The highlight of the presentation ceremony was the traditional arch of water baptism, at the arrival of the flight from Córdoba to Trelew. The authorities that attended the ceremony include Trelew’s Mayor, Adrián Maderna; National Congressman for the Province of Chubut, Gustavo Menna; the Provincial Minister of Tourism, Herman Müller; and Marcelo Cantón, Aerolíneas Argentinas Corporate & Media Relations Manager.

“Connectivity with the north of the country, as well as flights to Ushuaia and El Calafate, is of the utmost importance to us. This season is looking bright for our province.” stated the Governor of the Province of Chubut.

Trelew’s Mayor, Adrián Maderna, added “This is an unprecedented opportunity for Trelew, and we have reached our goal. We thank Aerolíneas Argentinas for working alongside us towards the growth of the city and this region of Patagonia.”

Lastly, Aerolíneas Argentinas Corporate & Media Relations Manager, Marcelo Cantón, said “Being with the Province of Chubut in this historic landmark is important for us. We created a flight triangle among Ushuaia, El Calafate and Córdoba which will boost tourism throughout the province.”

There are currently 28 weekly frequencies between Buenos Aires and Trelew, a number which will go up to 34 as from October. In addition to the abovementioned destinations, the city already connects with Comodoro Rivadavia and Bahía Blanca. A total of 111 weekly flights are operated from the Patagonian province from 3 operating bases: Trelew, Esquel and Comodoro Rivadavia.
