These terms and conditions shall apply to all bids submitted by our passengers in an auction for a chance to get an upgrade from the ticketed Economy Class to the Premium Economy / Business Class to travel with Aerolíneas Argentinas and Austral Líneas Aéreas – Cielos del Sur S.A. (Upgrade). These terms and conditions shall also apply to the purchase of an Instant Upgrade.
- Aerolíneas Argentinas S.A. and Austral Líneas Aéreas – Cielos del Sur S.A. will auction tickets for upgrades to Premium Economy / Business Class through different contact channels (link on the Homepage and the Additional Services microsite at aerolíneas.com, through the ticket purchase confirmation tab, email notification, etc.).
- Passengers may submit their bid from the moment they purchase their ticket up to 48 hours before the departure of their flight.
- Depending on the fare basis of your ticket, it may be eligible or not for the chance to obtain a class Upgrade through an auction or instant Upgrade.

- Flights operated and marketed by Aerolíneas Argentinas S.A. and Austral Líneas Aéreas – Cielos del Sur S.A.
- The passenger submitting the bid must be of age, pursuant to the laws of his/her country of residence.
- The Upgrade auction and the Instant Upgrade shall NOT be available for:
- Group reservations.
- Charter/Codeshare flights.
- Reservations of unaccompanied minors (UMNR).
- Reservations with a request for Special Services.
- Reservations with infants (under the age of 2).
- Reservations with pets in cabin (PETC).
- Flights for which passengers have already checked in.
- Sublo passengers (subject to load) or service fee.
- Reservations issued in Paraguay
- Tickets purchased with Aerolíneas Plus mile
- Aerolíneas Argentinas S.A. and Austral Líneas Aéreas – Cielos del Sur S.A. reserve the right to choose the flights, routes, fares and types of tickets to be auctioned and to be offered for the purchase of an Instant Upgrade.
- Passengers may only submit one bid per flight leg, which must match the ticket purchased for flights operated by Aerolíneas Argentinas S.A. and Austral Líneas Aéreas – Cielos del Sur S.A. only.
- In case of reservations made to the name of multiple passengers under one booking number, the amount of the bid or the amount of the Instant Upgrade shall correspond to each person individually and shall apply to all passengers in the reservation. For example, if the reservation is for three (3) passengers and they wish to bid twenty US dollars (USD 20) each, they will have to bid sixty US dollars (USD 60) in total. When awarding a bid, your bid will only be taken into consideration if there is enough space for all passengers in Business / Premium Economy class (according to the route
- Selection of passengers in the reservation:
- If any passenger included in the reservation does not wish to get the Upgrade, the reservation should be split beforehand, so that only those passengers wishing to submit a bid for an Upgrade or to purchase an Instant Upgrade appear in the original PNR (reservation). The relevant passenger(s) will then be able to request an Upgrade. This split reservation shall be requested through our Call Center.
- Reservations of adult passengers travelling with minors (both must be included in the same reservation and they must submit a bid for an Upgrade for both of them; a split reservation is not possible).
- Adult and minor passengers included in different reservations:
- Minor passengers (up to 12 years old) may not get the Upgrade.
- If the Upgrade is awarded to the adult passenger only, the minor may travel alone in Coach Class by hiring the Unaccompanied Minors service (UMNR). If the adult passenger does not wish to use the Upgrade awarded so that he/she may travel with the minor, such Upgrade shall not be refunded. In order to submit their bid, passengers must enter their payment method information. Payment shall be validated through an authorization of up to one US dollar (USD 1). This amount will be released once the auction has ended.
- Aerolíneas Argentinas S.A. and Austral Líneas Aéreas – Cielos del Sur S.A. are not under any obligation to accept the bid, and do not warrant that passengers will receive an upgrade regardless of the availability in the Business / Premium Economy Class.
- Aerolíneas Argentinas S.A. and Austral Líneas Aéreas – Cielos del Sur S.A. are not under any obligation to accept the bid, and do not warrant that passengers will receive an upgrade regardless of the availability in the Business / Premium Economy Class.
- Passengers may modify or cancel their bid through the link included in the confirmation email whereby Aerolíneas Argentinas S.A. and Austral Líneas Aéreas – Cielos del Sur S.A. notify reception of the bid, at any time up to 48 hours before the scheduled departure of the flight, provided that Aerolíneas Argentinas S.A. and Austral Líneas Aéreas – Cielos del Sur S.A. have not notified their acceptance of such bid. Once Aerolíneas Argentinas S.A. and Austral Líneas Aéreas – Cielos del Sur S.A. have accepted the request, the passenger may not cancel it.
- Upon acceptance of the bid by Aerolíneas Argentinas S.A. and Austral Líneas Aéreas – Cielos del Sur S.A., passengers will be notified of this decision via email and the total price of the transaction will be charged immediately to the credit card registered when the bid was submitted between 47 and 26 hours before departure of the flight.
- Aerolíneas Argentinas and Austral Líneas Aéreas – Cielos del Sur S.A. shall issue an Upgrade for each passenger included in the original flight reservation. The bid price or the price of the Instant Upgrade include all applicable taxes and additional charges.
- Not applicable for promotions or installment payments.
- The service may be paid by credit and debit cards: American Express, Visa and MasterCard (all banks) in the case of amounts stated in Argentine pesos and dollars. For all other currencies, only Visa and MasterCard will be accepted. The price of the service shall be calculated in the currency in which the plane ticket was issued and it will be finally issued in dollars at the US Dollar exchange rate on the date of the transaction. However, amounts stated in Argentine pesos, US dollars, euros, Brazilian reals, pounds sterling and Chilean pesos will be issued in the same currency.
- If payment is rejected, an email will be sent to the passenger with a link to try again with the same or another method of payment (the passenger can also go to aerolíneas.com/Servicios Adicionales/Upgrade to reattempt payment). If this last attempt is also not accepted, the passenger will not receive any notification and the Upgrade will be made available to the next bidder. If the Upgrade is awarded, the passenger will receive a confirmation email up to 24 hours before departure of the flight.
- If the relevant charge(s) for the transaction(s) made are not paid, either in part or in whole, or if the method of payment used was rejected, or if the holder of the card cancels the payment, or if the transaction constitutes a violation of any law, Aerolíneas Argentinas S.A. and Austral Líneas Aéreas – Cielos del Sur S.A. reserve the right to reject submitted bids and to claim the nominal value of the unpaid transaction plus any default interest thereon and/or any management charges applicable in the country where the purchase was made, without any demand for payment. In the case of Argentina, this corresponds to 1.5 of the General Portfolio Lending Rate of Banco de la Nación Argentina (www.bna.com.ar) in force at the time of actual payment. (Total Financing Cost –CFT: 1.5 of the General Portfolio Lending Rate of Banco de la Nación Argentina, Nominal Annual Rate paid on maturity with capitalization every 30 days + VAT, in force at the time of actual payment). Moreover, in case of fraudulent transactions, Aerolíneas Argentinas S.A. and Austral Líneas Aéreas – Cielos del Sur S.A. reserve the right to suspend the Aerolíneas Plus account(s) belonging to the person who committed the fraud and to prevent the involved parties from traveling as passengers in future Aerolíneas Argentinas and Austral Líneas Aéreas – Cielos del Sur S.A. flights. This decision is grounded on section 8, subsection a), paragraph III of Resolution 1532/98, “General Conditions for Air Carriage Agreements” (Condiciones Generales del Contrato de Transporte Aéreo) approved by the Ministry of Economy and Public Works and Services (Official Gazette, December 10, 1998).
- Aerolíneas Argentinas and Austral Líneas Aéreas – Cielos del Sur S.A. shall not reveal the amount paid by the passenger who receives the Upgrade.
- Passengers who receive the Upgrade will enjoy the following benefits in our Business / Premium Economy class:
- Priority check-in & boarding.
- Access to Cóndor Lounge (only in regional/international flights departing from EZE) and foreign VIP Lounges in all our Regional and International routes.
- Baggage allowance according to the relevant class (only in flights operated by Aerolíneas Argentinas).
- Seats with greater comfort.
- Preferential onboard service.
- Passengers who receive the Upgrade may check in at the Airport, at the Business / Premium Economy class counters and at the available kiosks. If you have not previously selected your seat as stated above, your seat number will be subject to availability at boarding.
- Upon the award of the Upgrade, the original plane ticket conditions will continue to apply (including conditions on minimum and maximum stays, cancellation, penalties and changes). Baggage allowance will be updated to the relevant one applicable to Business/Premium Economy class. For flights to Europe, the baggage allowance shall be of 3 items for Business class.
- The new Business / Premium Economy class corresponding to an Upgrade is not applicable to the miles earning program. If the passenger is a member of the Aerolíneas Plus Program, he/she will earn miles according to the original class and not according to the awarded upgrade, subject to the Terms and Conditions applicable to such program. No refunds will be granted for bids accepted by Aerolíneas Argentinas S.A. and Austral Líneas Aéreas – Cielos del Sur S.A. Charges for the Upgrade and applicable taxes are non-refundable (except in the cases described in paragraph 27), non-transferable and non-endorsable.

- An Upgrade may not be transferred to another flight or to another passenger.
- In case of a relocation made by Aerolíneas Argentinas S.A. and Austral Líneas Aéreas – Cielos del Sur S.A. due to force majeure events (including operational difficulties), the Upgrade will not stand. Therefore, if the passenger’s bid was accepted, he/she will have to request a refund through our Customer Service Center.
- The only exceptions accepted for a refund of the Upgrade are the following:
- Cancelled flights, irrespective of the reason for the cancellation, even if it is due to matters not related to Aerolíneas Argentinas S.A. and Austral Líneas Aéreas – Cielos del Sur S.A.
- If the Upgrade bid was accepted by Aerolíneas Argentinas and Austral Líneas Aéreas – Cielos del Sur S.A. but a seat in the executive class (Business/Premium Economy) could not be assigned due to reasons attributable to Aerolíneas Argentinas and Austral Líneas Aéreas – Cielos del Sur S.A., including but not limited to equipment changes, delays in connecting flights that prevent the passenger from boarding the connecting flight in which the Upgrade is applicable, among other reasons. The passenger must request the refund by email within 45 days following the date of the flight, through this link .
- If the refund is approved, the amount of the transaction will be refunded through the payment method used to pay for the bid, and will be processed in the same currency used in the payment of the bid price. Refunds shall be limited to the amount charged for the Upgrade. Bank charges and/or related commissions from third party accounts in connection with this transaction will not be refunded.
- Under no circumstance may passengers be granted the possibility to get a refund of the amount paid for the Upgrade if passengers change, cancel or miss their flight due to reasons attributable to them, even if the fare of the original plane ticket (in Economy Class) is refundable (except in case of force majeure events, which shall be analyzed and determined individually by Aerolíneas Argentinas S.A. and Austral Líneas Aéreas – Cielos del Sur S.A.).
- Aerolíneas Argentinas S.A. and Austral Líneas Aéreas – Cielos del Sur S.A. reserve the right to modify the type of equipment (aircraft) used for the flight before and/or after the Upgrade confirmation.
Aerolíneas Argentinas and Austral Líneas Aéreas – Cielos del Sur S.A. reserve the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time and to cancel the auction/Instant Upgrade. These Terms and Conditions must be read together with the Conditions of Carriage and our Privacy Policy. Passengers must accept these Terms and Conditions in order to submit a bid on an Upgrade or to purchase an Instant Upgrade.
