COMMITTED TO THE FUTURE
At Aerolíneas Argentinas we work firmly for a sustainable present and future. We develop different projects aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) defined in 2015 by the United Nations Organization, within the framework of the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development. An opportunity for countries and their societies to embark on a new path in pursuit of improving life.
The objectives defined in the 2030 Agenda are:
The Group Aerolíneas Sustainability Plan develops actions that have an impact on some of the stated objectives:
SDG No. 3 HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
Given the context experienced by the pandemic, we have carried out a central task in the arrival in the country of vaccines against the Covid-19 virus, as well as the transfer of medical supplies and repatriations.
On the other hand, we develop a program through which we collaborate in the transfer of people for medical reasons who do not have the necessary resources to carry out a certain treatment or surgical intervention.
In turn, we continue to work together with INCUCAI transporting organs and transferring people for medical reasons who, due to their vulnerable situation, do not have any type of medical coverage or social work.
This year, we developed an agreement with the Flexer Foundation, through which we transport genetic samples and medicines from/to the interior for children suffering from cancer.
SDG No. 5 GENDER EQUALITY
For the first time in the history of Airlines, the Gender and Diversity Coordination was created, with the aim of promoting and guaranteeing a more egalitarian, inclusive and violence-free work environment. The plan develops different aspects for the workers of the company and passengers.
We trained the highest authorities with the Micaela Law and we will continue to do so with the rest of the company.
Likewise, they worked in an articulated and coordinated manner with the Ministry of Women, Gender and Diversity in the transfer of women in situations of violence and family members who were victims of femicide, as well as in the different communication campaigns promoted by said ministry.
SDG No. 12 PROTECTION AND RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION
We carry out different actions, in order to reduce the production of waste in our offices, as well as in-flight supplies. Through joint work with charitable institutions and NGOs, we deliver food that has been deprogrammed from our aircraft, as well as all kinds of supplies that can be reused. During the year 2020 we have donated more than 5MM of food and drinks that could not be used on flights, given the context of the pandemic. They have been received by the Argentine Red Cross, River Plate Foundation, Racing Solidario, Bapro Foundation, among others.
SDG No. 13 CLIMATE ACTION
We modernized the fleet, incorporating new B737 MAX aircraft. These aircraft have greater efficiency in fuel consumption, in relation to their predecessors 737-700 and 737-800. In addition, in January 2020 the last A340s were deprogrammed, improved by A330-200 twin-engines with less consumption.
In this way, there was a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions through efficient operations in terms of fuel use.
SDG No. 15 LIFE ON TERRESTRIAL ECOSYSTEMS
We made an agreement with the Bioandina Foundation for the protection, rescue, rehabilitation and reinsertion of the Andean Condor, which was declared in danger of extinction.
Committed to the protection of this species, we actively participate in their transfer both for their recovery and for their subsequent release. In this way we were able to make our contribution to the conservation of biodiversity and ecology.
By virtue of the accompaniment to programs / policies for the protection and conservation of wildlife of the Argentine Republic, WE PROHIBIT THE TRANSFER OF HUNTING TROPHIES OF ALL SPECIES OF ARGENTINE NATIVE FAUNA, both on national and international flights.
As a national airline, the company recognizes the importance of protecting the life of wild animals that inhabit our soil, and adopts this policy in order to adhere to international conservation standards such as the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Fauna and Flora. Wild (CITES)
SDG N°17 ALLIANCES TO ACHIEVE THE GOALS
We make agreements with institutions, foundations, NGOs, Ministries, public and private organizations whose objectives are focused on providing responses to different joint and population needs.
