Aerolíneas Argentinas already carries out the controls required by the TSA for its flights to the United States

This morning, on its first flight to Miami, the first controls established by the TSA were carried out promptly and smoothly.

Buenos Aires, July 19, 2017.-As announced by the US Department of Homeland Security (TSA for its initials in English) at the end of June, enhanced security measures have come into force as of today for passengers traveling to the United States, carrying electronic devices larger than a smartphone in the cabin.

Aerolineas Argentinas has already made the purchase of three screening equipment that will be delivered this weekend, due to the enormous worldwide demand for this type of equipment and consequent delays in delivery. Until then, the company applies an alternative inspection procedure (using dogs specially trained to detect explosives), a procedure already approved by the TSA.

This measure, already implemented today by Aerolineas Argentinas, reaches all airlines that carry passengers to the United States, including US companies. It includes devices - such as laptops, tablets, cameras, camcorders, geolocators (gps), among others - that from today are analyzed with an explosives detector.

It should be noted that the new protocol will not apply to baggage or electronic devices checked in to be carried in the hold of the aircraft.

The inspection is done randomly at the last pre-boarding checkpoint, just before entering the aircraft. It occurs at the same moment of control of liquids and gels and does not demand more time than the usual controls.

The new measure set by the TSA seeks to control that the devices do not have explosive material.
