Buenos Aires, July 14, 2017. - In relation to what was announced by the US Department of Homeland Security, on July 19, increased security measures will be implemented for those electronic equipment larger than a smartphone whose owners wish to enter the passenger cabin on flights to the United States.

In such cases, devices - such as laptops, tablets, cameras, camcorders, gps, among others - will be analyzed with an explosives detector.

It should be noted that the new protocol will not apply to baggage or electronic devices checked in to be carried in the hold of the aircraft.

Medical equipment for passengers, presented with the corresponding certificate are exempt from such control.

It is a security measure that all airlines carrying passengers to the United States, including US carriers, must comply.

Aerolineas Argentinas has already made the purchase of three screening equipment that will be delivered a few days after the entry into force of the new regulations, due to the enormous worldwide demand for this type of equipment and consequent delays in delivery.

Until then, the company will apply an alternative screening procedure already approved by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
