Baggage

Know the policy of baggage.

For your safety and comfort on board hand luggage must comply with the measures and maximum weight, otherwise it will be despatched in the hold of the plane.

At the check-in counters there is already a method of measuring the size of carry-on bags. Therefore, bags that exceed the permitted size will be checked and carried in the belly of the plane. This is mandatory because oversized bags will not fit in the overhead bins or under the seats.

Maximum measures

Measurements: The sum of the three dimensions of each piece should not exceed 115cm.

Maximum Weight

Domestic flights in Argentina, economy class: 1 Piece of 8 kg (18 lbs).

Domestic flights in Argentina, Club Economy class: 1 Piece of 10 kg (22 lbs).

International flights, all classes: 1 Piece of 10 kg (22 lbs).


Infants

Infants (INF) not occupying a seat are entitled to a free checked baggage allowance only, which consists of 1 piece of maximum 10 kg and 115 cm.

Children

Children are entitled to the same baggage allowance as adult passengers.

Baggage allowance consists of all the passenger is authorized to carry at no cost. It includes what is checked as registered baggage in the hold and in cabin with him/her, such as carry-on baggage.

Domestic Flights

In the event of issuance of tickets connecting with a Regional / International flight, the latter's baggage allowance shall be respected.

In case of flights operated by another carrier, please contact the operating carrier to verify the corresponding baggage allowance.

Regional / International Flights

In the event of issuance of tickets connecting with a domestic flight, it will respect the baggage allowance of the international flight.

*Baggage on connections between regional/International flights and domestic flights: The passenger will complete immigration procedures, collect the baggage to go through customs, and recheck it at the authorized counters.

**As of September 17, a maximum weight restriction has been established to or from Chile, so any piece of baggage that exceeds such weight limit will not be accepted for check-in. In these cases, the payment of excess baggage will not be accepted and may only be transported through the Cargo section, well in advance and paying the corresponding fee.

Children (CHD)

Children are entitled to the same baggage allowance as adult passengers.

Aerolíneas Plus exclusive benefit

Aerolíneas Plus Platinum, Gold, and Elite and Elite Plus SkyTeam members on Domestic/ Regional/ International flights: 1additional piece with the same amount of kilos allowed by the fare type.

Note: For flights with Origin/Destination Brazil from/to South America, the allowance is 20kg extra for Platinum / Elite Plus members and 10kg extra for Gold / Elite members.

Note: Devices (cameras, cell phones, laptops, tablets, portable medical electronic equipment, etc.) in checked baggage should be turned off and protected against damage.

Bicycles (single seat, tourist or non-motorized racing) will be accepted provided they are packed in an appropriate container. The bikes should have the pedals removed, the tires deflated and the handle bars turned around. 


Domestic / Regional International

A bicycle is considered as a piece of 158 cm, regardless the actual size (one more piece of baggage). Its carriage is included in the free baggage allowance.

If the allowance is exceeded or if additional equipment is transported, the charge corresponding to the 1st. additional piece will apply.

The option of transporting this equipment as cargo must be offered to the passenger.

It is allowed the transport of sporting firearms not comprising more than:
- A case containing not more than 2 rifles, 5 kilos of ammunition in its original packaging or in a separate cell box, a target for shooting, sound suppressors and small tools for rifles, or
- Two shotguns and its two cases, or
- A case for Pistols not containing more than 5 pistols, 5 kilos of ammunition in its original package or in a separate cell box, sound suppressors,  a telescopic sight and small tools for pistols. Complete info: Module “Carriage of Weapons”.

 

Domestic / Regional International

A sport hunting equipment is considered as a piece of 158 cm, regardless the actual size (one more piece of baggage). Its carriage is included in the free baggage allowance.
If the allowance is exceeded or if additional equipment is transported, the charge corresponding to the 1st. additional piece will apply.

Consisting of: (one surfboard, wakeboard, sand board or similar)


Domestic / Regional International

- The carriage of surf equipment, or wakeboard, or sandboard, or similar is NOT included in the free baggage allowance.

A surfboard not exceeding 277cm: the amount of the 1st extra piece will be charged.

A surfboard over 277cm: an amount of 2 times the 1st extra piece will be charged.

Additional equipment: the amount corresponding to the 1st extra piece apply.

Consisting of: 2 tubes of oxygen (empty and in hold), a wetsuit and a pair of flippers.


Domestic / Regional International

The carriage of Diving Equipment is NOT included in the free baggage allowance.

The charge corresponding to the 1st. additional piece will apply.

Consisting of: a pair of skis for snow, a pair of boots, a pair of sticks or standard or competition water skis, or snowboard and a pair of boots.


Domestic

In addition to the permitted allowance, a ski set for snow or water / snowboard per passenger can be free transported
Additional equipment: the amount corresponding to the 1st extra piece will apply. 


Regional / International

A ski equipment for snow or water/snowboard is considered as a piece of 158 cm, regardless the actual size (one more piece of baggage). Its carriage is included in the free baggage allowance.
If the equipment exceeds the baggage allowance or there is additional equipment: the amount corresponding to the 1st extra piece apply.

Consisting of:  a bag with a set of golf clubs and a pair of golf shoes.


Domestic

In addition to the permitted allowance, a golf  equipment per passenger can be free transported.
Additional equipment: the amount corresponding to the 1st extra piece will apply. 


Regional / International

A golf equipment is considered as a piece of 158cm, regardless the actual size ( one more piece of baggage ), its carriage is included in the free baggage allowance
If the allowance is exceeded or if additional equipment is transported, the charge corresponding to the 1st. additional piece will apply.

Consisting of: two fishing rods, one reel, one net, a pair of fishing boots, a box of fishing tackle.


Domestic

A fishing equipment per passenger can be free transported.
Additional equipment: the amount corresponding to the 1st extra piece will apply.


Regional / International

A fishing equipment is considered as a piece of 158 cm, regardless the actual size ( one more piece of baggage ). Its carriage is included in the free baggage allowance.
If the allowance is exceeded or if additional equipment is transported, the charge corresponding to the 1st. additional piece will apply. 


Sistemas por peso Brasil/Sudmérica y v.v.

One fishing equipment is included in the free baggage allowance, provided it does not weigh more than 15 kilos.
If the permitted equipment exceeds 15 kilos or additional equipment is transported, the excess baggage charge corresponding to the leg to be flown will be applied for every kilo of equipment.

What kinds of objects are considered weapons?

  • Firearms of all kind and any calibres
  • Collectable Firearms (working or not)
  • Imitation of firearms or war toys
  • Munitions
  • Blunt Elements
  • Sharp and/or stabbing Elements
  • Tools
  • Every article that you could suspect that would be able to cause any injury

Current safety rules prohibit the transportation of any of these objects on cabin that is the reason for which they will be dispatched in hold as registered baggage.
Weapons will have to be unloaded, dismantled and packed according to the requested safety rules. br> Munitions and cartridge will have to be transported in its original package or in a box separated from cells. br> Neither munitions with explosive or incendiary head, nor war armament shall be accepted to be transported shall be accepted under no circumstances.
Passengers pertaining to Security Organizations who travel with weapons carrying (revolver, pistol), will have to use the weapon cover or to dispatch it as cargo.

Documentation

Departure: Passengers who travel overseas with a weapon must have reached the age of majority and to evidence that he/she is legitimate user of it through the pertinent documentation issued by the National Registry Office of Weapons (R.E.N.A.R).

Entrance: Passengers who come into the country with a weapon, they must have reached the age of majority and count on the authorization for its possession of his/her country of origin, where must appear: type, brand, model, calibre, number of series and munitions.'.

Weapons Container

Passengers (security organisms and /or guards) who have carrying weapons will have to show them to the Security Control Authority of the Airport.
The weapon will be unloaded in an isolated sector and packed together with the munitions and/or cartridge clips in the Weapon Container, which will be sealed with a security pre-package and it will carry a label.
The passenger will have to request it at destiny to the traffic staff, presenting the corresponding receipt.

Aerolineas Argentinas and Austral accepted transporting cremated human remains (ashes) in an urn, which the passenger must carry in hand baggage.

  • Certificate of Cremation, original and copy 
  • Certificate of Shipment issued by the Office of Border Health at the Airports 
  • Visation or Consulate authorization of the country of destination / transit, or La Haya Apostille.

 

Aerolíneas Argentinas performs the Transportation of Human Organs for Operations of Transplant, exclusively under a request of the Central National Institute Unique Coordinator of Donations and Implants (I.N.C.U.C.A.I.). The presentation will have to be made 30 minutes in advance at the airport, complying with the requisites of documentation and corresponding package.
