Austral Líneas Aéreas says goodbye to paper

16/03/2016

Austral Líneas Aéreas is the first Argentine commercial air operator that has been authorized by the National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC for its initials in Spanish) to use on their flights all operational and regulatory documentation, as well as mapping in digital format.

This important technological progress will result in a considerable economic benefit and an important contribution to environmental protection.

This is a migration of flight documentation, so far in paper, to a digital system provided by Electronic Flight Bag class I (Ipad) and class II (EFB).

In 2014, Austral pilots as well as maintenance and dispatch personnel started this change process that today, in addition to ensure immediate updating of flight documentation, allows optimizing the use of resources and stop carrying about 18 kilograms of paper documents on each flight, representing a decrease of almost 800,000 kilos per year.

This reduction means a significant impact on fuel economy, as well as a contribution to environmental protection. In addition, the printing of 300,000 paper color copies per year is eliminated.

At Aerolineas Argentinas and Austral, we keep working to make the most of all the technological tools at our disposal to optimize operations.
