Restrictions as regards quantities From August, 1st, 2007, all liquids must be transported in containers of a capacity not higher than 100 ml or its equivalent 3.4 oz, although the container is not completely filled. Containers that have liquids inside, aerosols and/or gels (LAG) must be placed in an airtight transparent plastic bag (zip) protected against undue manipulation with the following characteristics: - Maximum Capacity: 1 litre - Dimensions: 20.5 cm x 20.5 cm o 15 cm x 25 cm. - Material: Polyethylene of low density and high resistance to the impact. The plastic bag must present at the inspection post for its visual examination.
Restriction about the carry-on baggage size Only one bag per passenger. It will be presented separately the rest of the carry-on baggage for its inspection.
Duty Free Items They can be acquired in the stores free of airport taxes, or on board of the airplanes, subject to the condition that liquids will be packed in a safety bag protected against undue manipulation (STEB) and that a satisfactory evidence be provided (purchase receipt) that shows that the article has been acquired in those stores free of airport taxes or on board in the day(s) of the trip for the passengers who leave the airport or those who are in transit in it. The receipts should be into the STEB, so in their back is visible from outside and be assured in the lower left part of the safety box (be it in a pocket in the bag or properly fixed). If the receipt is displaced and is not visible for the security inspection, it will be necessary to open the bag and its content may be confiscated (or the security staff will be able to request the store the detail which places a new STEB at the inspection post).
Crew / Staff (Exempted) The articles of personal use (beverages, perfumes, cosmetics, medicines and other similar articles), of the staff working at the airport and who enter the restricted security zones, they will have to be subject to the same restrictions and exceptions than the articles of the passengers. Nevertheless, the necessary elements to make determined tasks will be exempted those restrictions which are applied to LAG, for example, necessary to perform cleaning or maintenance tasks. The Peruvian National Police staff Customs, General Direction of Civil Aeronautic and of the Commission of Air Accidents Investigation that perform specific functions at the International Airports and who require to enter with LAG to fulfil their functions are excepted from those controls. Likewise, the crew members of flights in their flying uniforms and being on duty are exempted.
Comments The following elements are considered LAG: Liquids, aerosols and gels which include with no exclusive character: water and other beverages, soups, syrups, marmalades, stews, sausages and pasta; foods in sausage or with high liquid contents; creams, lotions, cosmetics and oils; perfumes; aerosols; gels, including the hair and bath gels ; the pressure containers, including the shaving foam, other foams and deodorants; pastes, including toothpaste; mix of liquid and solid substances; eye shadow; lop gloss or labial balsam and all other article of a similar consistency at room temperature. There exist exceptions for medicines, baby foods and for passengers with special diet requirements. When the security staff has any doubt as regards exceptions which they could grant LAG products, they will be able to ask the passengers to try the authenticity of the LAG: - Pharmacological Products with medical prescription, and it must be verified if it corresponds to the reasonable quantity required for making the trip according to what has been indicated in the medical prescription. Likewise, that the name of the passenger is in the prescription or in a note of the doctor and this matches with the name which appears on the boarding pass. - Pharmacological Products which do not require medical prescription, the passenger shall be asked about the nature of the product and about the reasons why it must be considered as essential and the dose/frequency with which it must be administered. Nevertheless, the exceptions for medicines without prescription (i.e., nasal aerosols, cough mixture, solution for contact lens, etc), should be restricted to the quantity of liquid that is permitted, due to they are not essential. - Liquids which are not pharmacological products: the passenger will be asked about the nature of the product and about the reasons why it must be considered an exception. The product may be rejected if it is not considered a sure substance. Baby products can include: milk for babies, sterilized water, juice for babies, liquid baby foods, in gel or in paste, and towelettes. If it were considered that the volume of baby food is excessive for the duration of the trip, it will not be permitted to bring it further than the inspection post. Another case can occur; it is that of a passenger autistic who 'needs' a can of beverage of a trademark in particular. Liquids that are not pharmacological products: they are considered in this group to those which are used with medical purposes, among which is the ice (that is used to keep the temperature of the organs for transplants, for example), blood and compound blood products, even 'normal' liquids if its use is justified due to medical reasons. Reasonable Quantity: Reasonable is understood the volume that is required for the duration of the trip, taking into account possible delays and deviations. |
